Selby’s independent butchers, which has been at Market Cross for over 50 years, has recently come under new ownership and as a result relaunched with a new look and wider product range. 

Paul Shearer, the new owner of Selby Butchers, is known for his Stanforth Butchers Pie Shop in Skipton. Selling World Famous Pork Pies, meat pies and pasties, Paul now takes on Selby Butchers where he intends to continue bringing a high-quality selection of locally sourced meat to his customers. 

Paul said: “I chose Selby Butchers because not only is it local to me, but it is a well-established business with a team that has extensive knowledge of the town, customer needs and the product.”

Selby Butchers prides itself on having an expert team that sell a wide range of meat produce and fresh oven ready meals. The shop has regular specials, tasty cooked meats and has now diversified further into selling frozen fish.

You can find Selby Butchers open from 8-4pm, 6 days a week and their flexible portion sizes mean you can order as much or as little as suits your budget. 

Danny Finney, Store Manager, has been the butchers friendly face behind the counter for 18 years, and is a well-known individual within the town. 

Danny Finney said: “There’s a reason why we have such a good customer base, and it’s because our customers come first. If you want it, we can get it!”.

The butchers shop joins a number of other independent businesses in the centre meaning shoppers can get their weekly shop all in one place. Cooper’s Grocer's sells high-quality fruit and vegetables as well as Cooplands bakery and Re-fill It the eco food shop. All three stores enable shoppers to minimise their food waste by only buying the exact quantities they need, which is better for the planet as well as the pocket.
