Oh help, oh no, it’s the Gruffalo at Market Cross
9 October 2023
A free Gruffalo Trail launches this Saturday [14 October] for youngsters to enjoy at Market Cross in Selby.
The country’s leading supplier of books, crafts and games, The Works, will soon be launching their new collection based on the hit children’s story,
The Gruffalo, by Julia Donaldson.
Store Manager at The Works, Tasha Kierans, said: “We are receiving
a great response to the collection so far and have much more on its way. We can’t wait for the trail to start and welcome all of our young Gruffalo
fans to Market Cross.”
Children will be able to pick up their trail map from the
store and follow the signs round the entire centre, spotting the Gruffalo’s
orange eyes, black tongue and purple back prickles as well as some of the other
characters from the hit children’s book.
To officially launch the trail, the Gruffalo will be
making a special visit to the centre on Saturday. Families will be able to take
part in the trail and then have a picture taken with the Gruffalo himself
between 11am and 1pm.
Each stop on the Gruffalo trail will have a letter displayed and players must follow the trail in the correct order to spell out the hidden
word. Once the entry sheet has been completed, participants will then be able
to hand their map back into The Works to be entered into a prize draw with a
£50 gift card up for grabs.
Lizzie Russell, who is part of the centre management team at
Market Cross, said: “We are so excited to launch this Gruffalo trail at Market
Cross, it is a great way to get children out of the house and add some excitement
to the family’s shopping experience.
“Don’t worry if you haven’t read the book, the trail
welcomes everybody to take part and enter this amazing prize draw - good luck!”
The Trail will end on the 30th November, giving
families plenty of time to take part, enjoy shopping the collection at The Works and be in with the chance of winning the
voucher – just in time for Christmas.
The new Gruffalo collection now available at The Works
includes a Gruffalo advent calendar offering twenty-four activities, puzzles and
games.
Shoppers can take part in the trail around the
centre with signs hidden amongst the great independent businesses that Market
Cross has to offer. From fresh fruit and veg, locally sourced meat to clothing
boutiques, the centre allows shoppers to get their every day essentials all in
one place.
