Independent ladies fashion boutique renews lease at Selby’s Market Cross shopping centre

Entering its 10th year in business next year, clothing boutique Dolled Up renews their commitment to Selby’s Market Cross shopping centre.

Local sisters, Michaela Smith and Stephanie Sorby, opened their first ladies fashion boutique in 2014 choosing Market Cross for its central location opposite Selby Abbey.

Co-owner, Michaela, said: “Over the years we’ve formed a strong community of independent business owners at Market Cross. It has the same feel as working on a market however you have the benefit of being undercover.”

The centre is home to a number of independent retailers, some of which have been open on the centre for more than a decade.

A cobbler, butcher and card and gift shop are some of the centres longest standing businesses, however a number of new businesses have joined more recently, such as Abbey Bridal which opened earlier this month.

Dolled Up has become a popular favourite for shoppers thanks to its lovely range of affordable fashion, shoes and accessories.

Shoppers can enjoy the new autumn and winter collections which are entering the store now with new lines added weekly.

The boutique not only prides itself on affordability but also catering for everyone, stocking sizes 8 to 24.

As well as the two owners, the boutique also employs two more sales assistants allowing them to be open to the public Monday to Saturday.

Michaela continued: “We are extremely grateful to every one of our loyal customers for supporting us from the very beginning. We love to make our ladies feel fabulous when leaving our boutique and we’re always open to receiving feedback on what our customers would love to see in the shop.”

Recent trends have indicated that costume jewellery is growing in popularity, so the team are busy sourcing new collections to add to the range over the coming weeks.

Estates Surveyor at Dransfield Properties who own and manage the development, Olly Jansen, said: “We are really pleased Michaela and Stephanie are the latest of our tenants to renew their lease with us.

“We will soon be announcing further updates on new stores coming to the shopping centre making this a really exciting time for Selby.”
