Halloween Spooktacular hosted by Market Cross

23 October 2023

Market Cross shopping centre in Selby will be hosting a frightfully good fun-filled Halloween event this Saturday [28 October].

The party starts at 1pm and runs until 3pm with lots of free activities to get children into the spooky spirit for Halloween. Free face painting and glitter art will be available, as well as a free craft station with Halloween themed colouring, pumpkin craft kits and a chance to decorate hanging decorations to take home.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy a packed programme of entertainment taking part in a Halloween scavenger hunt and the centre's scary fancy dress parade with prizes up for grabs for first, second and third place.

Stilt walkers will be at the centre for the spookiest of photo opportunities and a spectacular performance will be carried out by local dance troupe, Dance Elite LC.

Alison Shipperbottom, Head of Communications at Dransfield Properties who own the centre, said: “This Saturday we are getting into the spooky spirit ready for Halloween and we have some amazing activities lined up for families.

“This is a great chance to get dressed up, have your face painted, enjoy the fun activities lined up and then join the parade to show off your amazing costume.”

The costume parade will start outside The Hub at 2:30pm and participants can sign up beforehand near the craft tent.

The Gruffalo trail, which launched two weeks ago is still running until December. Children can pick up their trail map from The Works and follow the signs around the centre, spelling a hidden word from the letters displayed on the signs.

Once the entry sheet has been completed, participants can then hand their map back into The Works to be entered into a prize draw with a £50 gift card up for grabs. The winner will be contacted on 30 November.

The centre is now home to two brand new stores, Dawson's Interiors and Abbey Bridal Boutique giving shoppers plenty of new shops to browse.
