Chance to make your own ‘veg critter’ at fun bank holiday event in Market Cross
13 May 2024
Families are being invited to let your imagination run wild and make little creatures out of vegetables as part of a unique event hosted at Market Cross over the Spring Bank Holiday Weekend.
The Vegetable Critters event will give visitors the
chance to get really creative and craft little critters such as mini-dinosaurs
or farm animals out of veg including carrots, potatoes and broccoli.
Participants can then take their imaginative creations
home to enjoy or add it to our collaborative display.
Hosted by The Joker Entertainment, the fun workshop
will be hosted outside The Works shop at the Selby-based shopping centre on
Saturday, May 25, between 11am and 2pm.
The workshop caters for all ages, from toddlers to adults, but
tends to be particularly popular with youngsters aged three to twelve.
There will also be free balloon modelling.
Melissa Cutforth, Marketing and Events
Coordinator at Market Cross, said: “This promises to be a fantastic family
friendly activity, so let your imagination run wild!
“We are sure everyone will enjoy this unique
workshop and shoppers are welcome to come and take a look at the veggie-themed
display which will be an interesting attraction in itself.
“This will also be a chance to take a look
around the fantastic array of shops and hospitality venues we have here at
Market Cross.”
If your critter creations have got you thinking
about a bit of fruit and veg, then why not visit Cooper's Grocers to check out
their vast range of produce full of fresh goodness.
The shop has recently got a range of summer
fruits in stock, including cherries, peaches, nectarines and apricots.
And if you have a chat with the greengrocer Conor,
the shop can even arrange to deliver fruit and veg packages to your home.
If all this talk of fruit and veg is giving you
some culinary inspiration, The Works stocks a wide range of cookbooks to suit
all tastes including ‘Mary Makes It Easy’ by TV baker Mary Berry, plus others
by Jamie Oliver and Andi Oliver.
If you want to treat yourself and dine out over the weekend, then why
not check out Sunday lunch at Henry’s. The venue’s delicious and filling roast
dinners are becoming well-known in Selby and tables tend to book up quickly.
Lunches are served every Sunday from Noon to 4pm.
